PONDA: Five administrators appointed to save Goa Dairy have failed to turn it into black, alleged the Goa Dairy Inquiry Committee which has also demanded an inquiry into the running of the affairs during the term of the administrators.
“All the administrators appointed in the past one year and half, have failed in their task and have worsened the situation due to mismanagement taking the Union into further losses,” said Dattaprasad Savordekar, leader of the Goa Dairy Inquiry Committee.
“The condition was far better when it was managed by the Goa Dairy Board,” said Savordekar.
“If we do not want Goa Dairy to become another Sanjivani Sugar Factory then the Government should immediately remove the administrator and hold elections to the Goa Dairy Board,” he added.
The milk sale has reduced from 71000 litres during the Board’s tenure to 52000 when the administrators were handling the affairs, the farmers alleged.
“The cattle feed plant production has also reduced from 1600 metric tonne per month to 950 metric per tonne. The ice-cream plant is almost shut down. If the administrator continues for some more time then there are chances that Goa Dairy will soon become another white elephant like the Sanjivani Sugar Factory,” said the farmers.
The performance of the administrators for the past one and half year is worst compared to the time it was run by the Goa Dairy Board, the farmers alleged.
They said that the old gunny bags were sold at a quotation of Rs 10.36 rejecting highest bidder for Rs 15 per bag. The milk procurement rate is also high.
“The cost of operation is also climbing. However, the claim of Chairman Durgesh Shirodkar that Goa Dairy earned a profit of Rs 2.40 lakh during his tenure of seven months without an audit is a big joke. Thirty farmers have retired from the Goa Dairy. The salary saved on account of the retirement of the thirty farmers is shown as profit,” Savordekar said.
The leader of the Goa Dairy Inquiry Committee said the AGM “could not be held and had to be postponed twice recently because the Administrator lacked the legal knowledge of holding an AGM.”
“This is the reason we are demanding the government hold the election for the Goa Dairy Board immediately,” Savordekar said.
