MAPUSA: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Sunday demanded removal of hoardings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at petrol pumps for continuous rising of fuel prices.

The demand was made by GPCC president Girish Chodankar during a programme at Mapusa. He said that people were burdened due to rising prices of petrol and diesel while hoardings gives an impression as if the Prime Minister is laughing at people distressed by rising prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas.

“When people are spending their hard earned money to fill high priced petrol or diesel, Modi can be seen laughing at them on the hoardings at petrol pumps,” he said.

The Congress president charged that when people are suffering from inflation, the BJP leaders are in celebration mood and it was seen even during COVID-19 pandemic.

Chodankar said that if voted back to power in 2022 Assembly elections, Congress will use powers within the purview of the State government and reduce prices of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders through local interventions like reduction of the tax. This is not election promise but word of the oldest party in the country, he said.
