MARGAO: Curtorim Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Tuesday urged the Chief Minister, Union External Affairs Minister and Civil Aviation Minister to make arrangements for the evacuation of Goans stranded in United Kingdom, USA, Dubai, Kuwait and other parts of the world.
In his letter, Reginaldo has invited attention of the above authorities about the recent message on the “Vande Bharat Mission” of Tourism and Environment Minister of Maharashtra Aditya Thackeray on his twitter handle wherein he spoke for stranded Maharashtrians across the world requesting to be brought back in a phase manner but at the earliest, especially a lot of whom are in USA and Australia.
“In reply the External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar was happy to facilitate the return of Maharashtra residents from abroad. Our Chief Minister may kindly take a leaf from Aditya Thackeray’s Twitter request to Dr S Jaishankar and Minister of Civil Aviation to facilitate return of all the Goans stranded abroad in various parts of the globe and also request the Airport Authority of India to open the Dabolim International Airport to bring all the stranded Goans overseas directly to Goa,” requested Reginaldo.
“It is also given to understand that the lockdown imposed due to the pandemic coronavirus many Goans have lost their jobs and their livelihood and are staying in the labour camps of many Gulf countries especially in Kuwait and Dubai. All these affected people may please be identified and brought to Goa on a priority basis,” he said.
