Margao: With the tourism season in the State is at its peak, the lifeguards were kept on their toes as Palolem witnessed six rescues and two cases of children stung by jellyfish.
In one such incident that took place at Palolem during the weekend, three men from Maharashtra went kayaking at around 6.30 pm. While trying to hold each other they fell into the water and struggled to stay afloat. Drishti lifesaver Parshuram Pagi spotted them in distress and immediately rushed to help them on a jetski. He secured all three on the jetski and brought them to safety. They were assessed for injuries and let go with safety precautions.
In another incident that took place during the weekend at about 6.18 pm, a 34-year-old man from Bhopal went kayaking. In the middle of the sea, he lost his balance and fell. Drishti lifesaver Ankush Vagaonkar rushed a rescue call. Drishti lifesaver Laxmikant Sagekar secured the drowning tourist on the jetski and brought him ashore safely.
Earlier on Monday, two men from Solapur went kayaking at Palolem at around 11.15 am. As the kayak overturned, the duo fell into the water and began struggling for help. Drishti lifesaver Laxmikant Sagekar secured them on the jetski and brought them to shore.
At around 3.15 pm on Monday, a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl from Bangalore were taking a dip into the sea at Palolem. As they were swimming, they got stung by a jellyfish and cried for help. Drishti lifesaver Ankush Vagonkar spotted the kids and informed the lifesavers’ tower. Drishti lifesaver Laxmikant Sagekar secured them on the jetski and brought them to safety. Medical aid was administered to the kids and further help was provided.
