PANJIM: A revelation certain to again put the Police Department to shame is of a Police Inspector and constable’s involvement in a sex racket. Sources confirm that two rescued victims of prostitution have named the officer and his subordinate of sexual abuse and extortion.
The West Bengla natives, made the revelation of the alleged crime in their statement recorded before a panel headed by the sub-divisional magistrate at the Protective Home, Merces.
“The victims have named police personnel who sexually abused them and even took protection money. Since the Anjuna police where the case is registered tried to sabotage the case against their colleagues, the girls opened up before the panel,” a source told Herald.
The girls were rescued in a raid near Anjuna petrol pump last month where one Odisha-based pimp Rehan Khan was arrested while another managed to give the police a slip. The alleged incident involving the police is said to have occurred in Calangute before the recent raid.
Herald had reported last month on the police covering up on the allegations against their colleagues.
