Mapusa: Reshma Kalangutkar was elected unopposed as the new Sarpanch of Nerul Panchayat on Friday. The post of Sarpanch was vacant after the then Sarpanch Piedade Almeida resigned after completing a two-and-a-half-year tenure as per the agreement between the panchas.
Panch members including Deputy Sarpanch Abhijeet Banaulikar, Piedade Almeida, Prakash hobble, Caetana Fernandes and others were present as well as Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar. Manohar Parwar was the presiding officer.
