PANJIM: State Government has appointed Reshma Mathew as the new Chief Electrical Engineer.
Mathew, who was superintending engineer with the State Electricity department, is the first woman to hold the post. She took charge on Friday.
“Government is pleased to give the charge of Chief Electrical Engineer to Reshma Mathew, superintending engineer in the Electricity Department with immediate effect, until further order,” Under secretary (personnel II) Shashank Thakur informed.
Reshma the daughter of Suresh Kenkre from Benaulim was the first lady junior engineer in the electricity department and subsequently went on to be the first lady Assistant Engineer and Superintending Engineer from where she was appointed as the Chief Electrical Engineer making her the first lady CEE.
She replaces Neelakanta Reddy, the officer who was given charge by the Goa Government in June 2017 in addition to his post of superintendent engineer (electricity) and additional chief engineer.
Reddy, who was due for retirement in July 2017, was granted extension in the service for one year. His further extension was withdrawn by the government thereby appointing Mathew.
