PANJIM: A day after Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo came down heavily on the authorities over electricity and water woes in Bardez; former minister Vinod Paliencar, representing Siolim Constituency in the tourist-popular taluka, on Tuesday brought to the fore difficulties faced by residents owing to this persistent problem.
The legislator has warned the PWD officials of consequences if water crisis is not resolved within eight days.
“I am doubtful that government is concerned about the people and the problems they are reeling under. My constituency people are not getting water for 45 days. We are only getting empty promises to our repeated complaints. How long do we wait? If the issue is not resolved in eight days, we should not be held responsible for any consequences,” he warned as he addressed a press conference to spell out problems in Siolim.
The Goa Forward Party (GFP) leader also pointed out to frequent disruption of electricity supply while reposing confidence in Power Minister Nilesh Cabral for rectifying the issue.
“Besides water, Siolim people are facing serious problem of load shedding. Cabral is a good minister. All the officers should support and help the minister to resolve the electricity problem,” he said.
Lobo, also Calangute MLA had lashed out at officers of the Electricity and Water Supply Departments for failing to resolve the problem in the entire Bardez.
