Resort catches fire at Palolem Beach

CANACONA: A storeroom of a beach resort on the extreme north of Palolem Beach caught fire at around 8 pm, on Monday. 

The Fire Brigade personnel succeeded in removing 10 LPG cylinders before they could burst with the heat of the inferno created due to burning of the wooden structure and the other combustible material.

Sources at the scene of the fire incident said, “A distress call was immediately made to the fire station located about 5 kms from Palolem.

Since the fire personnel were not able to control the raging fire, a fire tender from Margao was requisitioned. Sources involved to douse the fire also said that two water tankers from private parties were called as the fire was going out of control.

Finally, the local fire personnel with assistance of their counterparts from Margao managed to extinguish the fire by 10 pm.

No one was reported injured in the incident.

Immediately, it was not known as what caused the fire to break also the losses to the owner in the fire was not known as the fire personnel till 10 pm were busy dousing the fire, informed a source.
