MARGAO: Margao MLA Digambar Kamat has denied any involvement in the proposal to establish a restaurant on the top floor of the upcoming pay-parking project. Despite this, he expressed support for the concept.
Kamat clarified that he did not originate the proposal; he only became aware of it when the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) sent a copy to the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) and to him. He pointed out that the recommendation for the restaurant was made by a previous council body, and the project’s foundation stone was laid during their tenure.
Pointing out that the idea was merely a suggestion, he suggested that the Urban Development Department and Minister’s opinions be considered at the next meeting, and if municipal councillors had alternative ideas, they could propose them. However, he noted that GSUDA had rejected suggestions like using the space for storage.
Kamat also mentioned that GSUDA had stressed the need for revenue generation for the municipal project, as the MMC was facing financial constraints.
