Restaurants may be allowed sitting customers

PANJIM:  Responding to appeals made by bar and restaurant owners to allow them to open up their establishments for business, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said the government will consider their demands and that he will be taking a decision after deliberating on the matter.

He indicated that restaurants will be allowed to open soon but with 50 per cent seating capacity.

Owners of these establishments have pointed out that they have been suffering heavy losses since the curfew began, which has now been extended until July 12.

Currently, restaurants can only carry out takeaway and food delivery services but cannot open their establishments to sitting customers.
