PANJIM: Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Abu Azmi’s nephew Abu Aslam Azmi was on Tuesday quizzed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Goa in connection with a crackdown in Mumbai that saw the arrest of two persons for drug peddling including a Nigerian.

Sources said Aslam was questioned for about 3 to 4 hours in the office of NCB at Porvorim where he arrived in the afternoon. It is, however, not certain whether the politician’s relative, who is also a restaurateur in Goa, has been summoned again for questioning.

His questioning was in connection with the matter related to alleged drug peddler Sufran Lakdawala, who during the interrogation revealed the name of Abu Aslam Azmi. On July 8, Lakdawala was arrested from Mira Road with cocaine and he is alleged to have supplied drugs to some big industrialists and people connected to the Bollywood industry.

The NCB team further intercepted Nigerian national Blessing Edwin Okereke and recovered Mephedrone and Cocaine in intermediate quantity at Nala Sopara. These two raids led to Aslam’s alleged involvement in the drug trade.
