PANJIM: Due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, the State government has announced that the function to celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar will be a highly restricted one.
“The birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, architect of the Constitution of India is celebrated every year on April 14 and in recognition of the same level public function is held at Ambedkar Garden, Panjim where the garlanding of his statue is done by the dignitaries in the presence of community people and other public in general. In view of the prevailing situation in the country due to health emergency forced by COVID-19 and due to precautionary guidelines issued by the government to contain the spread of epidemic this year, it has been decided by the government to celebrate 130th birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on April 14, strictly by garlanding of the statue in the presence of maximum 50 persons,” read the statement issued by the State government.
The Chief Minister will be garlanding the statue at 10.30 am, at aforesaid venue.
“Hence all the organisations are hereby advised not to organise public function in view of health emergency forced by COVID-19 pandemic,” said the Department of Information and Publicity in a press release.
