Restrictions in Assagao, Parra

MAPUSA: In view of the rising COVID cases, Assagao Panchayat has decided to undergo a voluntary lockdown from May 4 (3 pm) to 19 (up to 6 am). 

The panchayat has restricted the movement of public from 6 am to 1 pm as people have been asked to follow COVID safety norms such as social distancing and wearing of masks.

In a notice, the panchayat has warned of strict action including cancelation/revocation of establishment licence including sealing of shops/stores if any business/trade establishment does not follow the restrictions imposed during the lockdown.

During this period, the religious marriage ceremonies will be allowed at religious places subject to permission from Deputy Collector with not more than 50 persons. 

Meanwhile, The Parra panchayat on Monday voluntarily imposed a seven-day lockdown in the village. 

The panchayat took the decision in view of the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in the village and to contain the spread the local body has restricted the movement of public from 6 am to 12 pm in the village
