CORTALIM: The updating of the survey map of Mormugao Taluka is in the final stages with the Inspector of Survey and Land Records personnel attending to the objections filed for corrections to update the taluka map.
Speaking to Herald, Inspector Savio Silveira said the staff has been on field work since April 29 but hastened to add that it had not paralysed the functioning of the office.
“I had requested the Collector to relieve one of the surveyors to attend to public attending the office which has been accepted and some surveyors also attend office in the afternoon to attend to the public,” Silveira said and added that two draughtsmen have been assigned census duties.
Asked to what updating of survey meant, Silveira explained that the updating meant adding or deleting topographical features on the existing maps but does not confer legality to the features added or bestowing rights on persons except by due process of law.
