A part of the retaining wall alongside the road at Walkeshwarwada, Betim which collapsed during monsoon, is posing a threat to the motorists.
Since the road is narrow, driving of vehicles has become risky, particularly during night. Residents of Walkeshwarwada have already brought the matter to the notice of the panchayat and requested it to construct the retaining wall before Diwali.
When contacted, Penha-de-Franca Sarpanch Gopal Sawant said the panchayat has already prepared the estimates of the retaining wall and are submitted to the Block Development Office for approval.
“The total cost works out to Rs 2.65 lakh. As soon as the estimates are approved, tenders will be invited for the construction of the retaining wall. In the meantime, the panchayat has decided to put up fencing at the location to prevent mishaps,” informed Sawant.
