Revenue Minister Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate suffers mild heart attack, undergoes angioplasty at GMC

PANJIM: Revenue Minister Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate, suffered a mild heart attack on Sunday night at his Miramar residence. 

He was immediately transported to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bambolim, where doctors performed an angioplasty to address the issue. 

During his journey to his Taleigao residence from his Miramar residence, Monserrate reported feeling uneasy and subsequently began vomiting, after which he was taken to the GMCH, Bambolim. 

The medical team successfully conducted an angioplasty and removed a minor clot. 

Currently, his condition is reported as stable, and he has been transferred to the super-speciality block for further care.

As per sources, the doctors stated that Monserrate will be discharged soon. 

Doctors have assured that there is no need for transportation to Mumbai for additional treatment. Monserrate’s wife Taleigao MLA Jennifer Monserrate, shared that her husband is now in stable condition.

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that he is personally monitoring the situation and that doctors at GMC Hospital are taking all requisite measures.

On getting the information, his Cabinet colleagues, MLAs and supporters rushed to the hospital and wished his speedy recovery and good health.
