Revenue Minister Babush Monserrate, accompanied by officials from the Smart City project, conducted an inspection in the Panjim area following complaints from residents about dust pollution caused by ongoing construction work. Residents have reported that their homes are engulfed in dust, posing difficulties for senior citizens in the vicinity.
Residents of Panjim have been raising concerns about the dust generated by vehicles involved in the Smart City project, which settles around their residences. This dust pollution is particularly affecting senior citizens, leading to respiratory issues.
Officials from the Smart City project visited the site for inspection and locals demanded immediate action to address the pollution problem. Minister Monserrate instructed the managing director of the Smart City project to barricade the area and divert traffic until the work is completed.
“There are lot of concerns due to dust pollution for senior citizens. The cause of this dust is vehicles plying on under construction roads. People have to show some patience. The road work will complete by May 31 this year as per schedule”, Minister said.
“If you want to see rainbow, you have to bear with little bit of rain, people of Panaji will have to suffer only for some time, have set deadline of 31st May to complete all Smart City works” added Revenue Minister
Regarding the planning of bus stops in Panjim, Minister Monserrate expressed dissatisfaction, stating that he has written to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant requesting a meeting to discuss the matter promptly. He further informed that the meeting is scheduled for the upcoming week.
