Revoke doctor’s termination, demand Canacona locals

CANACONA: Hundreds of locals, mostly patients on Monday gathered at Community Health Center, Chaudi to unequivocally demand cancellation of the termination letter of their favourite doctor, who was recently abruptly terminated from the services.
Diogo Da’Silva, a prominent member of the Canacona Health Welfare Committee, who led a strong protest for terminating the doctor over allegations of private practice 11 years ago when she was a junior physician, at Hospicio hospital, presented a memorandum demanding immediate revoking of the termination with immediate effect.
It may be recalled that The Directorate of Vigilance had last week passed a service termination order over the allegation of private practice when she was posted at Hospicio Hospital, Margao, almost a decade ago which she has denied during the course of investigations.
Speaking to the media before submitting the memorandum, Da’Silva said over 200 locals marched to the Canacona Sub-District Hospital from far as Cola and Polem.
He said the doctor is their favourite amongst all section of the society and is loved by all. The people, during the solidarity meet, spoke highly of the doctor and demanded that she should be allowed to join duty as soon as possible.
