PANJIM: The Opposition in Socorro panchayat on Friday demanded immediate revocation of the no objection certification (NOC) granted to two massage parlours and spa in Porvorim Constituency, alleging mushrooming sex trade.
Addressing media persons, Panch Sanjay Pednekar said that the panchayat grants permission to massage parlours and spa, despite objection from the opposition members.
“People are also not consulted or taken into confidence,” he said.
Pednekar alleged that there is possibility of sex trade in the guise of massage parlour and spas.
“People living in close vicinity of these spas have raised objections. They even approach panchayat with their demand,” he said adding that the Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte had also objected to granting permission to these spas.
Zilla Panchayat member Vishali Satardekar said that the people had voiced their objections to these two spas, during the last gram sabha meeting, despite which the permissions have been granted.
“We don’t understand why the views of people are not taken into account?” she questioned.
