PANJIM: The State Home Department’s Office Memorandum (OM) with regards to Revolution Day Celebration has fuelled speculation of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s homecoming.
Parrikar, who has been ailing since mid-February, is currently in USA undergoing medical treatment.
In an OM issued on June 6, Home Department said that the Chief Minister will attend the Revolution Day function at Azad Maidan and that he will be received by Chief Secretary IAS Dharmendra Sharma and Director General of Police (DIG) Dr Muktesh Chander, and in turn that Parrikar will receive Goa Governor Dr Mridula Sinha, who is the Chief Guest of the event. The OM also states that Chief Minister will deliver his speech for the event.
However, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), when contacted, confirmed that the possibility of Parrikar coming on June 18 is low. “But Chief Minister is returning to Goa next week,” sources said.
Parrikar has been in USA since March 7. In last three months, Chief Minister had released two video messages.
