PANJIM: Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) MLA Viresh Borkar on Monday made it explicity clear that the party would not participate in the `Save Mhadei Save Goa’ rally organised near Amona-Virdi bridge.

Borkar representing Sant Andre constituency, stated that he is with the Opposition but added thay there was lack of communication between them due to which he could not stage a walk out in the House. Borkar was not part of the

Opposition, who protested in the House during the Governor’ address.

He arrived at around 12.45 pm, sat for few minutes and then walked out even as the Governor’s address continued.

Meanwhile, Borkar’s absence from the rally raised eyebrows and people wondered as to why the RG was conspicuous by its absence at the meeting. The main question that haunted the participants was whether the regional party had links with the ruling BJP. The RG also organised a meeting

in support of Mhadei river

in Valpoi constituency

on Sunday.

Addressing the rally, activist Rama Kankonkar alleged that political agents were trying to divide the people. He said that he always tried to unite the people of Goa on various issues concerning them – be it railways protest at Chandor, Vainguinim beach encroachment, protest against proposed IIT at Shel-Melauli and proposed marina project at Bambolim.

Kankonkar said that the Save Mhadei rally was Opinion Poll 2 movement. The Mhadei battle is not between two Goan MPs and 28 MPs of Karnataka. It is a fight for our existence. He said that we should launch door-to-door campaign to save Mhadei river.
