MARGAO: The members of Revolutionary Goans (RG) from Salcete on Thursday accused the BJP government of failing to maintain the law and order in the State following the gang-rape of two minors at Benaulim.
Briefing the media persons, RG demanded strict steps to curb the rising crime cases in Goa. They also condemned the similar incident at Usgao.
Seby Fernandes, RG coordinator for Salcete taluka said, “Goans do not feel safe anymore as law and order in the State has collapsed completely. It is heart-breaking that two minor girls have been gang-raped by migrants. Such criminal activities bring shame to the village and State at large”.
He demanded that the panchayat authorities be directed to make police verification compulsory across the villages.
Besides, RG called upon the government to install CCTV surveillance cameras across Goa, stop illegal businesses of migrants, demolish illegal slums on comunidade land, carry out compulsory police verification of all migrants, conduct strict police patrolling and cancel illegal voting cards of migrants.
RG members Peter Fernandes, Dagley Fernandes, Prashant Pagi, and Johnashua Quadros were also present.
