CURCHOREM: Rhucha Subhash Vasta was elected as councillor of Ward No. 13 Devtewada-Khandiwada of Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) by margin of 183 votes in a by-election held on Sunday.
Returning Officer (RO) and Quepem Deputy Collector Rohit Kadam announced the result in the presence of observer Laura Britto, Rhucha polled 390 votes, Dnyaneshwar Damodar Naik 207 votes, Maruti Narayan Naik 206 while Prajyot Prabhakar Naik got 87 votes in the counting held at Quepem on Monday. According to RO, total 896 voters cast their votes from 1,033 registered voters and six votes were found to be invalid.
The by-election was declared due to resignation of councillor Omkar Vasta, brother of elected councillor Rucha, as he got government service.
