Ribandar mishap:Govt driver suspended

PANJIM: Government driver Nitesh Pandurang Priolkar of Chimbel, who drove his vehicle allegedly under the influence of alcohol was placed under suspension, on Tuesday.

Taking drunk driving as a serious offence, the North Goa Collector Mamu Hage issued the suspension order after the Old Goa Police registered a case against Priolkar for alleged drunken driving and causing the death of a two-wheeler rider on Ribandar-Old Goa bypass on Sunday late evening. The accused is also likely to face disciplinary action, it was informed. 

The Old Goa Police have already registered a case against him for reckless and negligent driving and also for drunken driving. He was arrested and released on bail on Monday. Soon after the accident, Priolkar was taken to the hospital for medical examination, the report of which is still awaited.
