PANJIM: Finding a parking space inside Goa Medical College Hospital campus (GMC) is a challenge for families, doctors, students and even ambulances. There is clearly a need for more parking space, but the available parking space is further reduced because of rickshaws and taxis being parked inside the GMC premises
The security staff informed Herald that there is no rickshaw or taxi stand inside the GMC premises. They expressed their helplessness in stopping the rickshaws and taxis from entering the premises.
Interestingly, a private hospital nearby has solved the issue by hiring a pay parking service provider. A token is issued to each vehicle and vehicles are allowed to park for free for one hour after which they have to pay Rs 20 for four hours when they exit the premises. Doctors and patients are exempted from parking fees.
