TUEM: In a frightening incident, a leopard attacked a two-wheeler rider in Tuem. Dnyaneshwar Polji, a security guard from Parcem was on his way back home when he was abruptly attacked by a leopard.

The leopard grabbed Polji’s foot, who somehow managed to free his leg and speed up away from the spot.
“I was on my way back home on a two wheeler after visiting a relative at around 8 pm. A leopard emerged suddenly and attacked me before I could anticipate and speed up my bike. It grappled my leg but I somehow managed to pull back and sped away from the spot, directly to the hospital,” said Polji.
He was later treated for his injuries at the Community Health Centre in Tuem. When the forest officials were informed about the incident, they asked for a doctor’s certificate from Polji.
With nearly four leopards on the loose, locals have requested the forest officials to look into the matter and take action.
“I request the RFO to immediately fix cages in these zones. The leopards are now on the roads hunting humans and this is dangerous. I request the Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane pay attention to this matter,” said social activist Uday Mandrekar.
A forest official said that measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in future.
