MARGAO: A 24-year-old married woman was knocked down by a scooter rider while crossing the road, suffering serious injuries, at Curtorim.
She was immediately rushed to the South Goa District Hospital, Margao.
Maina-Curtorim Police disclosed her name as Sonu Chowdary.
According to police, the accident took place while rider Faiyaaz Ali, resident of Assolda-Quepem, was proceeding from Curtorim to Macasana and Sonu was crossing the road at Curtorim.
Based on the complaint, the police have registered an offence against Ali under Section 279 and 337 of Indian Penal Code for riding scooter in a rash and negligent manner and causing serious injuries.
Police said that they have conducted the panchnama and Ali will be arrested.
