PONDA: Setting the tone for upcoming Assembly elections, Revolutionary Goans (RG) on Saturday urged the Goans to protect their identity and culture, which is unique in nature and threat of losing it, as the politicians are not bothered to protect it.
Addressing a meeting at Marcaim Panchayat Hall, RG founder Manoj Parab said that the upcoming Assembly elections is the right time for revolution by electing people who will protect the interest of Goa or else the State will lose it in the coming years.
He stressed for passing of Person of Goan Origin (POGO) Bill to protect the identity of original Goans.
“The politicians have grabbed lot of properties and money while the Goans are struggling for survival. Their vote bank politics is encouraging the migrants. The Goan politicians have made the locals their slaves and made them to depend on their political boss,” alleged Parab.
He claimed, “The politicians keep on promising jobs while the jobs are few. On the other hand, Goa has become haven for the migrants. Migrants get every facility they want including jobs in industrial estates as Goans struggle to get jobs, contract to hire their vehicles in the industrial estates.”
He said, “80 per cent jobs should go to Goans in the industries.”
“The Goans provide their land, water and electricity to industrial estates, face pollution in the villages and in the end the jobs in the industries are grabbed by the migrants,” he added.
He urged Goans to bring change in their situation by electing people who will work to protect their interest and who will give jobs to them in industries.
He said, “If Goan politicians boast that Goans are doing well due to their contribution then why they have no money to buy a plot of land to construct a house.”
“Comunidade lands or plots in Goa should be provided to the locals for construction of houses at reasonable rates,” Parab claimed.
He also criticised Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar for failing to upgrade the Marcaim Hospital and said unemployment is a major problem in Marcaim.
