Ponda: The family and Khandepar locals finally took possession of the body of Manoj Naik after Sesa Goa Vedanta assured to provide compensation to the deceased family.
The body was brought to Manoj’s house from Hospicio Hospital, Margao at around 2 pm after the post-mortem was conducted. He was later cremated at the local crematorium at Khandepar at 3 pm.
Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, Sandeep Khandeparkar and large number of khandepar locals, staff and workers of Codli Mines visited his home and were present at the cremation.
It may be recalled that Manoj Naik who was working as a ripper machine driver fell in the Codli mining pit along with the machine. His body was found almost 36 hours after the tragic incident with the help of personnel from Fire and Emergeny Services and National Disaster Response Forces.
