Rise in cases ‘locks’ Sanquelim

BICHOLIM: With rise in corona positive cases in Bicholim, the authorities were forced to seal the Muzawarwadda in Sanquelim even as Madhlawadda in Sal is already sealed and people are being tested.

According to the available information, six positive cases were detected in Sanquelim and one in Sal. 

After the family was tested, the wife of the barber from Sal was also found positive and another case in Sanquelim was reported as the tally rises to eight. Seeing the rise in cases, the Muzawarwadda in Sanquelim, the authorities were forced to seal the area. 

“The residents from the area have been provided with all the essential commodities through Civil Supply Department. Sanitisation of the area was carried out by the Fire and Emergency Service Bicholim,” Bicholim Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit informed.

Health Officer of Sanquelim Community Health Centre Dr Uttam Desai informed that the woman from Muzarwadda who had come for a routine check up on Thursday was tested positive for COVID after her swab report received on Friday.

The woman has been sent to COVID Hospital Shiroda in Ponda Taluka while her family members have been asked for home quarantine,” informed Desai.

Meanwhile, 107 samples of the villagers from Madhlawadda, Sal and surrounding areas were taken on Friday and the report is expected on Saturday.
