PANJIM: The River Navigation Department has issued a show cause notice to the casino operator Golden Peace Infrastructure Pvt Ltd for illegal encroachments on the RND jetty.
The notice issued by Captain of Ports James Braganza says that the temporary NOC dated March 8, 2015 was issued to the off-shore casino operator for utilising of Panaji Jetty belonging to RND admeasuring 35 meters in length and 4.35 in width.
“On inspection it was observed that you have carried out extended modification, repairs to the said portion of the jetty without prior permission from RND. Also, it is observed that you have constructed a air conditioned room on the jetty amounting to illegal encroachment,” says the notice to the company.
The RND has further observed that the company has have erected huge advertisement boards on the jetty without permission of their department.
“It is also to mention that the electrical connection for the said portion is in name of M/s VM Salgaokar & Bro Pvt Ltd which is still being used,” the notice reads.
Further the notice says that the above illegal acts are in violation to the temporary NOC.
“Now you are required to explain within 48 hours why your temporary NOC 08/05/2015 should not be cancelled as per conditions in the NOC,” it says.
