MARGAO: Velim MLA Cruz Silva, who recently participated in a meeting with the villagers concerned about the damage being caused to the biodiversity due to the dredging of River Sal, met the concerned officials to address the grievances of the locals.
“I had a meeting with M/s Western Dredging regarding the desilting work in River Sal. I told them to respect the local fishermen’s views and desilt the river as per the requirement of local fishermen,” said Silva.
The dredging of work is taken up by the Captain of Ports.
Silva also met with Jamakhandi, the Assistant Engineer of the Water Resources Department (WRD), Sub Div I, Works Division II. Silva said they had a fruitful discussion in his office regarding various projects in Velim constituency.
