PONDA: Incessant rainfall for the past two days has resulted in overflowing rivers and subsequent hardships for locals in Dharbandora taluka.
The rising water levels in Dudhsagar river caused difficulties for Davkon-Dharbandora villagers, while another river at Nirankal-Dabal disrupted daily life and halted traffic on the Dabal-Ponda route, forcing people to take longer routes via Dharbandora or Vagon, Bimbal Paz.
Motorists and school students faced challenges due to flooded roads, causing inconvenience and frustration. The residents have demanded a permanent solution to address the annual flooding issue
The State government declared a holiday on Monday for students from Class I to XII, providing some relief.
It may be recalled that the main road connecting Nirankal and Dabhal villages has been flooded since Saturday.
The residents complained that the road in Davkon Dharbandora village remained submerged for the second consecutive day, causing inconvenience to them.
They complained that this is the main road leading to the village and it is difficult for them to get out of their houses.
They are in a dilemma as there is no other alternative route to get out of their houses to go shopping to the market or carry out other work.
Davkon locals complained that due to the rising water levels in Dudhsagar river following heavy rains since Saturday, they had to reach their homes by taking the route atop the hill.
They fear that if such a situation continues for a few more days, it will become difficult for them to live.
