QUEPEM: Locals of Rivona, Sanguem submitted memorandum to Assistant Engineer of water supply department of Quepem regarding excessive water bill. He is also in-charge of Sanguem water supply department.
Excessive water bill disarrayed the budgets of the households in Sanguem and Quepem taluka, and the water department are relentlessly trying justifying the bill amount with the consumer.
This issue arises due to delayed in issuing the bill. The six-month bill cumulatively turns out to be a huge amount. They argue that it is not consumers’ fault but they are forced to pay in one go, which is beyond the reach of daily wage earners.
Rosita Dias, a Rivona local said, “Today we came at water supply department at Quepem to file complaint about excessive bills issued by department and issued six-month bill all together, which is almost impossible to pay at one go, so we came here to meet Assistant Engineer to share our villagers’ grievance and ask him take necessary step against this.”
Tony Cardozo said, “As the water bills were issued after a gap of 6 months many of our villagers received huge amount of bills at a time, which has caused financial stress so we requested to issue water bills on monthly basis in future.”
