Amidst stiff opposition, Railways has agreed to the re-align the double tracking of railway line so that none of the structures will be affected.
“I apologise to madam (Alina Saldanha). It was an unintentional as instead of ‘the Portuguese’, I said ‘you Portuguese’. I apologise once again,” general manager Ajay Kumar Singh said before the mediapersons.
Saldanha said the GM was very abusive in his behaviour and used term “you Portuguese”. “When Chief Minister Pramod Sawant got to know this, he was very upset. He now feels such officers should not be posted in Goa,” Saldanha added.
She said everyone has to respect each other. “Everybody in this country fought for freedom even our ancestors fought for freedom. Nobody can use such foul language,” she said.
Railway Board Chairman  Vinod Kumar Yadav said the GM had made a mistake by using such words and it was inadvertent. “He has apologised and as such the issue is now sorted,” he said.
He said the SWR will consider re-alignment of the railway tracks. “We will have a re-look at the project so that none of the structures are disturbed,” he said.
