RND workers agitate

PANJIM, FEB 2
The employees of River Navigation Department (RND) today held a dharna in front of Captain of Ports protesting against the failure of department to resolve their long pending demands.
The agitators through a memorandum have said that the overtime wages payable on revised rates have not been paid since October, 2009.
They have also mentioned that the arrears as per Sixth Pay Commission have also not been paid.
“All the pending overtime allowances should be paid on immediate bases without further delay,” the memorandum reads.
The workers have also asked the department to stop the introduction of 3-shift working as it will cause inconvenience and prejudice to the existing staff.
“The introduction of 3-shift working amounts to violation of existing service conditions of RND, which is illegal,” it adds.
