Road map for road safety week chalked out

MARGAO: The South District Road Safety Committee on Saturday chalked out a road map for the activities for the year and during the National Road Safety Week 2020.
The Traffic Police were briefed on the numerous changes that are going to happen in the road and traffic scenario.
“We are going to push the road safety and traffic management in every village and every municipality,” said GOACAN Convenor Roland Martins.
Speaking on the complaints of the villages of claiming that they don’t have the money, Roland said, “There is clearly money coming from Central government to all the panchayats and the complaints that they don’t have money is not true. They get money under the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) and there are 29 headings of which heading number 13 is roads in the areas they can spend the funds.”
“The good part about this is that any proposal below Rs 2 lakh can be passed by the BDO level. We have briefed Traffic Police that if someone gives excuses that they don’t have money for erecting signages tell them that there is money under GPDP. The Village Development Committees have to take it ahead,” informed Martins.
