Road works worth Rs 25 cr sanctioned for Benaulim

Churchill announces plans to build a 12-bedded Health Centre in the constituency

MARGAO: Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao has thanked the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for sanctioning works on roads in Benaulim constituency worth around Rs 25 crore and announced plans to set up a 12-bedded Health Centre in Benaulim shortly.
“I do not know about others, but I have got Rs 25 crore works sanctioned in my constituency,” he said giving the list of the roads that will be taken up in the next six months. While 22 roads will be taken up in Colva, 16 will be taken up in Benaulim, 12 in Seraulim, seven in Cavelossim, six in Orlim and one in Carmona.
“They do not want to come to me and prefer to go with AAP,” he quipped when asked why only one road was taken up in Carmona panchayat and added that the only road taken up in that panchayat was because Sandra the panchayat member asked him to take up that road.
He disclosed that project worth another Rs 34 crore would be taken up shortly by the GSIDC for beautification of the constituency. “I am glad that my proposal to have a motorable access across the railway tracks in Seraulim is materialising with the under pass approved and sanctioned,” he said adding that while the State government will bear half of the cost, the balance of this Rs 14 crore project will be borne by the railways.
Churchill was also all praises for Health Minister Vishwajit Rane who, he recalled, was responsible for introducing the 108 ambulance service in Goa during his earlier stint at health minister. “Now also he has taken the right step to regularise the services of Goan girls working as nurses even though they are not graduates,” he said
