Roads adjacent to Vasco Municipal Park sans ‘zebra-crossing’ markings

In other cities in the state, it is common to see ‘Zebra Crossing’ markings on roads adjacent to the municipal parks and gardens. These ‘Zebra Crossings’ assist the pedestrians specially, children who visit the park, to cross busy roads without much danger. At the Margao municipal garden a police personnel is also present to control the traffic while the pedestrians cross the road. But on the twin roads running adjacent to the two municipal parks along the Swatantra Path in Vasco there is not a single ‘Zebra Crossing’ marking to assist the pedestrians cross the twin roads. It is pertinent to note that there are two municipal parks in the Port Town which are situated across the roads which run along the Swatantra Path. These are very busy roads and vehicles are seen speeding along them. Every day hundreds of children visit the two parks in the city. Many children cross the busy twin roads as they go from one park to the other. In the absence of ‘Zebra Crossing’ markings this can prove dangerous. Hence it seems mandatory to have ‘Zebra Crossing’ on the twin roads running parallel to the two parks with appropriate sign-boards so that the traffic are able to slow down and allow the pedestrians and children cross the twin roads without facing any danger.
