PONDA: The locals have complained that the roads dug for carrying out development works in Bokadbag and Undir have turned into death traps during the rainy season.
The people claimed that the pothole-ridden roads and overflowing gutters have made it challenging for them to commute along these routes.
The further complained that the continuous digging has severely deteriorated the two-km stretch from Undir to Ramnathi.
The locals are worried about how to commute along these roads, especially during heavy showers when these routes get submerged.
They have demanded proper planning and timely completion of development works to avoid chaos during monsoon.
The locals further suggested remedial measures to clean the gutters.
Baban Sawant, a resident of Undir, said, “The continuous digging has severely deteriorated the two-kilometre stretch from Undir to Ramnathi. Workers are seen trying to repair potholes with filling rubble however it is risky as the said road has turned into an accident prone zone.
“The Ramnathi-Bokadbag-Undir stretch looks like a war zone due to constant digging, for laying sewer lines and underground electricity cables. The two km stretch from Ramnathi to Undir has worsened and become non-motorable.”
Locals Baban Sawant and Premanand Gaude said on June 26, a 40-year-old rider from Marcaim sustained serious injuries in an accident at Talule and succumbed on July 3.
Ponda Police later confirmed the self accident and death of the Marcaim-based rider.
