VASCO: Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida asked PWD minister Deepak Pauskar to take stringent action against the concerned PWD engineer for failing to undertake NH 17 repairs before Monsoon.
The main NH 17 road from Chicalim slope until Headland Sada in a distorted condition plagued with potholes which has brought criticism from the locals on Vasco MLA Carlos.
After Herald highlighted the pathetic condition of the main road in Vasco, Local MLA took cognizance and demanded action against PWD engineer for his failure to do the necessary repairs.
Almeida went on to say that quality of the work of filling of potholes was sub standard. He said that in spite of instructions from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant & PWD Minister Deepak Pawaskar, the officers failed to act on time thereby putting the lives of motorists in danger.
Almeida concluded saying that his responsibility is to propose development works and follow it up, but it is the duty of the engineers to monitor the quality of work.
Almeida at the press statement said that the work of strengthening of carpet of NH 17 in Mormugao is in the process of getting final approval, but the actual work will start after the monsoons.
