Robbery at Carambolim temple

OLD GOA/ANJUNA: Two persons were arrested on charges of attempting to steal the donation box from a temple at Gausabhat-Carambolim, while burglars made an abortive bid to decamp with a fund box at a temple in Assagao. According to Old Goa Police, Suresh Bicholkar of Karmali complained that the accused Mantosh Shankar Hamnavar of Dharwad-Karnataka and an unidentified person entered Devi Kamlavati temple at Gausabhat-Carambolim and they were caught red-handed while attempting to steal the donation box. In another incident, Chandrakant Sawant of Volwado-Assagao complained that between 8.30 pm on July 2 and 6.30 am on July 3, some person entered Audhumbar Dattatraya Devastan at Volwada-Assagao by breaking the lock of the rear door and damaged metal fund box and attempted to commit theft.

Chain snatched in bus at Mapusa
MAPUSA: Three women snatched a mangalsutra worth Rs 50,000 from a woman in Mapusa. According to Mapusa Police, Saraswati Kaisurkar of Shirgao-Bicholim complained that while she was travelling in a bus from court junction Mapusa to Karaswada junction, three unidentified women snatched her mangalsutra worth Rs 50,000. Head Constable C G Parsekar is investigating the case.
