Rocked by revolt in Navelim as well

MARGAO: The BJP leadership was left red faced and embarrassed after a revolt rocked its Navelim block over the nomination of former Rumdamol Sarpanch Ulhas Tuemkar for the Davorlim seat with several block members quitting the party in protest over the candidate selection.

Even as Party president Vinay Tendulkar and South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar made light of the resignations by members of the Navelim block on Saturday morning saying the rebels will soon fall in line, the rebels later fielded Navelim block President Satyavijai Naik for the seat in defiance of the party diktat.
Satyavijai Naik, who lost the race for the Davorlim seat, defied the party leadership by filing his nomination paper for the seat in the presence of BJP state secretary and party’s Muslim face Sheikh Jina and other rebels.
He later told the media that he is sad to leave the BJP after working wholeheartedly for the party for over 25 years.
