VASCO: An iron rod fell on a moving car along the under-construction Zuari Bridge at Cortalim, on Saturday morning. The windscreen of the car was damaged in the incident; however, the car driver escaped unhurt.
The car was proceeding towards Panjim when from “nowhere” the iron rod fell and damaged the windscreen.
Yuva Goa founder member Siddhesh Bhagat posted the pictures of the incident on social media. He also expressed shock over the incident on social media. When contacted, Bhagat said that he had posted the incident on social media as “it is grave”.
He said that the falling of iron rod on the car was due to the sheer negligence of the supervisor of the under construction Zuari Bridge at the Cortalim highway stretch.
“I feel that more care needs to be taken to avoid such accidents. What if some common person got grievously injured with this iron rod? Whom could we blame?” Bhagat questioned and opined, “I feel such incidents should not repeat and officials need to be extra careful with regards to the safety of the common people.”
