VALPOI: Rohidas Gaonkar was elected unopposed as new Khotoda sarpanch. The post had fallen vacant after previous sarpanch Namdev Rane tendered his resignation after a year in service as per an mutual agreement between panchayat members.
The election was held on Friday and Gaonkar was elected unopposed after the presiding officer Lakshman Naik received his lone nomination to the post.
“I promise to work to the best of my abilities as a sarpanch and bring about development in the village with the help of my panchayat members,” said Gaonkar.
Panch members Rajaram Parwar, Nandini Mhalshekar, Namdev Rane, Pratima Vandekar, Saloni Gaonkar and Prashila Gaonkar were present at the meeting.
