Rotary Club designs, manufactures and donates face shields for health workers

PANJIM: Rotary Club of Panaji Mid-Town designed, manufactured and distributed safety face shields to protect doctors, nurses and healthcare workers who are on the frontline in the fight against COVID-19.

One-hundred safety face shields have been delivered to Dr Jose D’Sa, the Director of Health Services.

Dr Dwen Dias of Sub-District Hospital at Ponda, had messaged on Don Bosco Schoolmates WhatsApp group enquiring for face shields as the doctors and healthcare workers on the frontline of this pandemic needed these urgently for their protection.

Following this the Rotary Club took the initiatives and developed the face shield with the help of Engineer Guruprasad Khandeparkar.

While Rotarian Siddha Sardessai coordinated the project, Rotarian Prakash Kapadia managed to get his friend Siddharth Goyal (Jai Ganesh Ispat and Ferro Alloys Pvt Ltd) to donate funds through CSR for this initiative.

With such a high demand for these safety face shields coming from various doctors and hospitals from across the State, Rotary Club of Panaji Mid-Town is planning to manufacture more of these ingenious shields to be given free of cost to healthcare warriors, says a press note issued here.
