QUEPEM: Heated discussions were witnessed at the Xeldem gram sabha over the pending works at Tilamol ground and demarcation of plots for construction on agricultural land at Ganemorod.
While many residents of Ganemorod vociferously protested against the likely constructions coming up in agricultural land in their ward, Rohan Naik said around 42 plots have been marked in Survey No. 19/17 which is actually agricultural land.
“These plots have also been advertised on the social media,” he said while seeking the panchayat’s stand on the matter while seeking to know how these new occupants would be provided water and electricity when the present residents are facing difficulties in getting these.
While cautioning of hard times in future if such illegalities are permitted, he asked the panchayat not to issue any licenses to anybody with regards to these plots in that survey number.
Sarpanch Kavita Gawas Desai while claiming to have no knowledge absolutely about the plots being marked or the advertisement on social media, however assured the village that the Panchayat would inspect the site and take appropriate action.
Gram Sabha member Amey Chimulkar raised the issue of the pending works on Tilamol ground which is being done for the last three years. While accusing the contractor of not being serious about completing the work, he asked the panchayat to change the contractor if necessary so that youngsters get a proper place to play.
The sarpanch while admitting to the problems faced by youngsters as they cannot use the ground but said the work is pending due to technical reasons since the ground is prepared on agricultural land.
