VASCO: Royal Navy Ship HMS Defender is on a visit to Goa and has anchored at Mormugao Port, Vasco.
The ship is commanded by Commander Richard Hewitt, who will call on the Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area during their stay.
As per the information provided by the Naval PRO, the visit programme include a volleyball match between Indian Navy and Royal Navy, visit by Indian Navy officials to the ship and Royal Navy to INS Hansa and receptions hosted by each side.
Additionally, the ship will conduct Subject Matter Expert Exchange and Capability Demonstration.
HMS Defender, manned by 37 officers and 212 sailors, is a Type 45 Class Destroyer commissioned in 2013. She has a length of about 154 mtrs, a displacement of 8000 tons and a top speed of 30 knots.
