MARGAO: Strongly objecting to the piecemeal notification of the Regional Plan 2021, Village Groups of Goa have demanded the return of the plans to the respective villages for verification by the Village Level Committees and the gram sabha and to approve the inclusions made by the SLC.
The VGG has also demanded the inclusion of ODPs in the RP 2021.
Addressing the media, VGG President Zarina Da Cunha took strong objection to the statement that nearly 174 panchayats in Goa have accepted the notified regional plan and that only 15 panchayats have objected to the same. “The Chief Town Planner needs to provide documentary evidence to the people supporting their claim that 174 panchayats have accepted the notified Regional plan. The decision of the government to notify the RP 2021 for 174 of the 190 panchayats after keeping the state in limbo for so long is not justified and unacceptable”, Zarina said.
She said the CTP is required to explain how the areas marked as Eco Tourism zones, marinas, helipads, MIZ, industrial estates etc were added in the notified plan without the same recommended by the villagers or in the draft plan.
